The Length of 1 Second

After coming in from walking Rocky this morning, Ellie was still bundled up and in her stroller. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to take some cute pictures. I tried to snap a few, but it didn't go so well. First thing is that the digital camera takes a picture about 1 second after pressing the button, so when you have a wiggley baby who moves and changes expressions in fractions of a second you never know what you're going to get. The second problem was that after one picture, the batteries died so I put in brand new, straight out of the pack, batteries. Unfortunately the LCD screen still would not come up so I was shooting blind. Here is the resulting series of pictures.

Crawling

Ellie has been crawling for about two weeks or so. She started with a funny sort of sit/crawl method and then gradually has moved into a traditional crawl. I'm not really surprised she is crawling this early, but what is funny is the order in which she is doing things. First she learned to sit up, then pull herself up, then crawl. And yet, she still doesn't really roll over well, and I've never seen her or seen signs of her rolling from front to back - she just goes from front to sitting up.
Catching her crawling on video was a bit difficult since she is like a deer in the headlights everytime she sees a camera of any sort. I played with one of her toys, thinking she'd crawl to me - as you can see, she got distracted!

Dad makes his first post

Ab and I have been playing with interesting ways to display images. Here is a nice example of a way to present pictures without taking a lot of page real estate or opening a new browser. I wanted to show a picture of Mommy and Ellie laughing and a picture of dad holding her in a cute outfit. We of course can't leave out the YUMMY one. You can view the first picture displayed by clicking on STRETCH and SMILE :)

Santa's Lap

Here is a picture of Ellie on Santa's lap. On a weekday shortly before Christmas, Ellie and I met up with Jason during his lunch hour and all three of us went to the mall. We had lunch and took Ellie over to see Santa. She didn't cry, didn't smile, and didn't ask for any gifts. Obviously though Santa was quite taken with her - mere seconds before this photo was snapped Ellie was looking back up at him in wonderment. I really wish the lady had caught it on film!

Oldie but Goody

Here's a video from some months back. It's a small clip from her first big laughing session. Daddy really had her going!

Mom takes over

So dad creates the blog, adds one measley picture and NO posts - then promptly sends me a link. I think he knew full well I'd take over and load it up. If I didn't currently have a sleeping baby on my lap I'd do it at this very moment, but unfortunately it's just going to have to wait until later tonight.
